A trailer for a forthcoming Crocodile Dundeereboot starring Danny McBride80p Archives of all people, had long been rumoured to be one big Super Bowl ad.
SEE ALSO: Amazon dropped a hilarious new Super Bowl ad for AlexaCome Sunday, that speculation proved to be true. The trailer is actually a tourism ad for Australia, with Melbourne-born Chris Hemsworth promoting the country's expanse of beaches, wineries and food experiences.
There's also a short cameo from the original Dundee, Paul Hogan, who licensed the film's rights for the advertising campaign for free, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Would've been quite the contentious reboot, but alas.
While Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home is no more than a crafty, expensive $27 million advertising campaign, there's been some push Down Under to resurrect the franchise.
Notably The NT News, who launched a petition for a new Dundee flick, swooned by the slick trailers and wealth of talent.
Not only that, but the newspaper argued a reboot would be a boon for local filmmakers and tourism operators.
