Deadpool is "she responded with a crude gesture suggesting auto-eroticism."known for his raunchy humor, but apparently there's a line that even the fourth-wall-breaking character won't cross.
Ryan Reynolds, the star of Deadpool 2, told Entertainment Weeklythat there was one joke that 20th Century Fox wouldn't allow in the movie: a joke about Disney. Reynolds co-wrote the movie with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and he wasn't exactly happy about the joke being cut.
SEE ALSO: The final expletive-filled 'Deadpool 2' trailer is explosive“This is a sore spot for me because there’s a joke in the movie that is not in the movie now because — I’m probably not even allowed to say this — Fox made me take it out,” Reynolds told EW. “It had more to do with Disney, and they made me take it out. As I look back at it, I think maybe that was a wise decision.”
Reynolds probably would've struck a nerve with a joke about Disney, considering that the company owns some of the movie rights to the Marvel universe — but not quite all of them (namely, not to Deadpool and the X-Men). Disney definitely wantsto own all of the movie rights, and 20th Century Fox probably didn't want to poke the beast.
According to EW, that doesn't stop the ongoing joke about the Disney movie Frozenthat will pop up in Deadpool 2. We're thinking the cut joke likely had something to do with the business side of Disney.
Deadpool 2comes to theaters May 18.
