It’s an all too familiar problem for women in photography. Nikon’s 2016 annual reportrevealed that women account for just over 10 percent of the company’s employees. In all aspects of the industry, women face underrepresentation again and again. The prospect of tackling such a deep-seated problem can be overwhelming, but people are starting to speak up.

“As much as I enjoy yelling at people and institutions who are not actively working to make the photojournalism industry a better, more diverse space (possible understatement), I'm also only interested in yelling if I can come up with an accompanying and sensible solution,” she wrote on Facebook.
