Despite all of the leaks and Watch Salyut 7 Onlinerumors, we still don't know exactly what the iPhone 8 will bring when it launches later this year.
But now, thanks to a new iPhone concept created using ARKit, Apple's new augmented reality toolkit for developers, we may finally have the most fitting render of the upcoming flagship we've seen so far.
SEE ALSO: Apple is basically a parody of itselfWhile we've seen iPhone 8 concepts in the past, this new video utilizes ARKit's technology to actually put the iPhone 8 on the table via augmented reality.
The footage shows an AR version of the iPhone 8 featuring most of the aspects we've come to expect from the most prevalent design rumors and leaked dummy versions of the phone: an edge-to-edge, largely bezel-free display without any physical buttons on the front.
We've had a look what ARKit is capable of, both from Apple's demo at WWDC and from videos posted to Twitter after developers got their first crack at working with the toolkit. The platform will likely help to make AR a major focus for the iPhone 8. Creating an iPhone 8 concept using the platform just feels right, even if Tim Cook wouldn't approve.
There's no other info to go along with the concept, but other rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 will also include a vertically-oriented rear dual camera, a new selfie camera with new biometric and AR capabilities that could be used to harness apps made with ARKit, an embedded Touch ID sensor, wireless charging, and more.
The new features are rumored to drive the phone's cost above $1,000 — so if you're not ready to drop that much cash in September, an AR iPhone 8 might be as close as you'll get to the real thing.
