The Ejaculate Me So i’m TiredCW's Arrowreturns to our screens on Oct. 5, and just in case you found yourself stranded on a treacherous island with no TV for the past 12 months, we've compiled a handy guide to the five essential episodes from Season 4 you should watch to prepare you for Season 5.

1. Episode 401 - "Green Arrow"

The premiere marks a turning point for our hero, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), which informs his trajectory for the season. After choosing to leave Starling City at the end of Season 3 to attempt to live a regular civilian life with his girlfriend Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), he reluctantly comes to realize that his home and his teammates need him to be a symbol of hope, without the violence and murder that punctuated his early days behind the mask. That's easier said than done, as the season will come to prove, but for comic book fans, it's thrilling to see Ollie embrace his true mantle at last.

2. Episode 403 - "Restoration"

Season 4 of Arrow has many masters to serve, between setting up The CW's latest spinoff, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and introducing magic and mysticism to the TV universe. This episode does both, as future Legend Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) is resurrected via Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus Pit, teeing up another long-awaited crossover...

3. Episode 405 - "Haunted"

This episode retroactively introduces occult detective John Constantine (Matt Ryan) to the shared continuity of The CW's "Arrowverse," following the cancellation of NBC's shortlived Constantineseries. Constantine, in turn, helps the show delve deeper into the spiritual realm by working with Team Arrow to restore Sara's soul and get her back into fighting shape for Legends. It's an appearance that's especially satisfying for DC fans, but the dynamic between the quirky demon hunter and deadpan Oliver is enjoyable even if you're not a comic book wonk.

4. Episodes 418 and 419 - "Eleven Fifty-Nine" and "Canary Cry"

Both powerful installments on their own, these two hours are even more potent when viewed as a whole -- serving as a powerful tribute to one of the DC universe's most iconic and beloved characters, whose death is a major loss for the team and the series as a whole. Every cast member delivers some of their most gut-wrenching and powerful work to date, but it's Katie Cassidy and Paul Blackthorne who steal the show.

5. Episode 423 - "Schism"

Villain Damien Darhk ends up having a pretty preposterous endgame, but after everything that has come before the finale, it's still undeniably satisfying to see Oliver take him down. The episode resets the status quo in a major way, and after the many losses of the season, it's safe to say Team Arrow will never be the same as the show heads into its fifth year.

...and don't have time to watch any episodes before Wednesday's premiere, here's where the Season 4 finale leaves us:

SPOILER ALERT: After stopping Darhk's nuclear missiles, Oliver rallies the city to take on the rest of Darhk's henchmen. In the ensuing melee, Oliver manages to defeat Darhk, stabbing him with an arrow, just as Darhk delivered the fatal blow to Laurel in "Eleven Fifty-Nine." After Darhk's death, Team Arrow disbands, with Diggle (David Ramsey) reenlisting in the army, Thea (Willa Holland) hanging up her Speedy costume for good and Quentin Lance (Blackthorne) choosing to leave town with girlfriend Donna (Charlotte Ross). Oliver is offered a position as interim mayor of Star City, and unlike last season, has no intention of abandoning his responsibility as the city's protector, in the mask or out of it. And even if the rest of the team is in the wind, Felicity is still by Oliver's side to help him clear up the mess they made, even if they're no longer a couple.
