UPDATE: Aug. 18,Kalakal (2025) 2023, 9:20 a.m. EDT Home Depot's final online restock of the 12-Foot Giant-Sized Skeleton($299), its new LED lighting kit($29.88), and the three-foot miniature version($39.88) have sold out. However, they and other props from the retailer's 2023 Halloween collection are scheduled to arrive in stores by Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 4. Our original story follows.
Quick links:After selling out twice already in April and July, Home Depot's famous 12-foot skeleton is taking one last victory lap for 2023. The larger-than-life prop that's amassed a cult following since its 2020 debut will be available for purchase on the Home Depot website by 7 a.m. ET on Thursday, Aug. 17, marking its final online restock of the year.
Priced at $299 and limited to one per order, "Skelly" is joined by a selection of other previously sold-out items from this year's popular Home Depot Halloween lineup, including a colorful new LED lighting kit for its ribcage ($29.88), a three-foot mini-me ($39.88), and two other "giants":
A new 13-foot Giant-Sized Animated Jack Skellington ($399) sings and dances when its motion sensor is triggered. It was designed in partnership with Disney to mark the 30th anniversary of The Nightmare Before Christmas.
A new 9-foot-tall Animated Predator of the Night ($349) features glowing red 12-foot-wide wings, creepy head movements, and growling sound effects.
Notably missing from the roster is the $379 Inferno Pumpkin Skeleton, a corpse-y take on the original 12-footer that's been sold alongside it since 2021. (Maybe they broke up...?)
A representative for the home improvement retailer confirmed to Mashable that this will be the last online restock of its Halloween collection for 2023, adding that the lineup will be available in Home Depot stores by Labor Day beginning with its Salem, Mass. location this week.
SEE ALSO: Live, laugh, LifeEyes™️: How the 12-foot Home Depot skeleton became a perennial hitIf Skelly is sold out online and at your local store by the time you get around to checking for it, your next chance to buy it will likely be summer 2024 — hypothetically. Rumors that Skelly will be discontinued after this season have been percolating since its July restock, though Home Depot has yet to make anything official.
"Like all our categories, we are constantly evaluating our [Halloween] lineups to ensure we offer products that meet our customers’ demands and expectations," said Lance Allen, its Senior Merchant of Decorative Holiday. "Stay tuned next July for the 2024 lineup."
Skelly's retirement would come as a shock given its ability to still consistently and quickly sell out; more than 4,200 units flew off Home Depot's virtual shelves in less than 24 hours during its online restock last month. This story will be updated if we get any confirmation one way or the other.
