Louis C.K.'s upcoming film premiere in New York has been canceled,Biography Archives Mashablehas confirmed, reportedly in anticipation of a damning New York Timesexposé not unlike the one which took down Harvey Weinstein just a few weeks ago.
In September, the comedian dismissed the Times' interview questions about sexual misconduct, calling them "rumors," and equating acknowledgement with admission. Some speculated he wouldn't speak to press at the I Love You, Daddypremiere, a question that is now moot with its cancellation.
C.K.'s film I Love You, Daddyis about an aging Hollywood producer who likes to date young women, and at least one trailer includes the line "Everyone's a pervert."
Mashablescreened I Love You, Daddyat September's Toronto International Film Festival, and we noted that the film – a multi-level allusion to Woody Allen – all but invites investigation and criticism. It talks about rumors and boundaries and accusations, all of which are murky territory in which C.K.'s name has appeared.
C.K. was also supposed to appear on Friday's Late Show with Stephen Colbert, but the appearance was reportedly canceled, per THR.
FX -- the network that aired C.K.'s critically-acclaimed comedy Louieand is now home to two other shows the comedian produces, Better Things and Baskets-- issued a statement in response to the allegations.
“We are obviously very troubled by the allegations about Louis C.K. published in The New York Times today. The network has received no allegations of misconduct by Louis C.K. related to any of our 5 shows produced together over the past 8 years. FX Networks and FXP take all necessary actions to protect our employees and thoroughly investigate any allegations of misconduct within our workplace. That said, the matter is currently under review.”
