If you're splurging on Secretive Boarding Housea new iPhone 7, you've probably already gotten over its lack of a headphone jack.
So, now it's time to shift your focus to compatible headphones. We've heard loads about AirPods, Apple's new pair of wireless earbuds — but what about options for people who want to avoid Bluetooth? It might be time to go Lightning.
SEE ALSO: No, Apple, killing your headphone jack is not 'courage'Since there's no headphone jack, any wired earbuds will have to go in through the same port that your charger connects to. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus come packaged with Lightning earbuds (they also retail individually for a pretty reasonable $30), but we've got you covered if you want to upgrade.
Yes, these are $800. On its product page, Apple says these offer "a lifelike listening experience with an extended frequency response that opens up a new breadth of sound" -- because they use "a planar magnetic driver instead of a cone-type speaker," obviously. We don't know that these will really transform your Spotify experience, but it's your money.
If you're looking for a more affordable option, try the noise-cancelling Brightech MFi Pure Lightning Earphones. They're made of soft-silicone, which should help them stay in your ears, and you can probably find these at a discount if you look around -- they're $49.99 on Amazon. Just note that they don't contain a microphone for taking calls.
If music is your escape, and you don't want to be distracted by phone calls, say, try the Phillips Fidelio M2L headphones. They don't contain a microphone, but Phillips says they're "acoustically sealed" to block outside noise. They also offer a "Bass Reflex System" to keep low notes clear.
The JBL Reflect Aware earbuds are sweat-proof and water-resistant, which means you can use them on a run. They're a bit pricey, but they do contain a microphone for phone calls. They also let you adjust the amount of outside noise you want to hear.
If you're reallynot down to buy new headphones, that's cool. You can use a Lightning adapter to plug your old headphones into the iPhone 7. The dongle comes packaged with the phone, but just know that you'll be forking out $9 every time you lose one.
